DAN Oxygen (O2) Provider Course

Overview

Data from diving accidents in the U.S.A., the U.K. and Australia indicate that in the vast majority of dive accidents (in excess of 90%), the victim is breathing and will benefit greatly from the provision of near 100 percent inspired oxygen.

The Oxygen Provider program is designed to teach the skills needed to perform this task safely and effectively.

Certification / Recognition

Participants are certified in the use of the DAN Oxygen Unit, or equivalent system.

The certification is well recognized throughout the world through the International DAN Federation (IDAN).

Course Structure

Through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice, topics covered in the DAN O2 program include:-
- Diving accident recognition
- Benefits of oxygen provision
- Precautions and safety procedures
- Oxygen provision to both conscious and unconscious casualties.

Course Duration

1/2 day program (approximately 4 hours)

Prerequisites

- No certification or licensure prerequisites
- No minimum age limit

Course Advancement

This course complements the Emergency Oxygen component in the Emergency First Response Course as well as the PADI Rescue Diver Course.
