ERF Instructor Retraining Program

Overview

Emergency First Response Instructors who let their rating lapse may complete an Emergency First Response Instructor Retraining program to reactivate their rating.

Certification

After successful completion of the program, instructor participants can apply to regain Emergency First Response Instructor rating.

Course Structure

This program reviews the Emergency First Response program and highlights changes to course standards, materials, content or techniques. Participating instructors refresh their knowledge and skills while updating their instructional materials.

Performance Requirements

1. Participate in three required Instructor Retraining Program presentations:
i. Standards and Materials Review
ii. Emergency First Response Program Philosophy
iii. Teaching Emergency First Response Skills Workshop.

2. Demonstrate role-model technique on Primary Assessment, One Rescuer Adult CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use.

3. Successfully complete the Emergency First Response Instructor written examination.

Course Duration

1/2 day program (approximately 4 hours)

Prerequisites

Hold an Emergency First Response Instructor certification.
