PADI Open Water Diver Course

OverviewThe PADI Open Water Diver course teaches student divers the foundational knowledge and skills they need to dive with a buddy, independent of supervision.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, participant receives:
i. PADI Open Water Diver certificate
ii. PADI Open Water Diver certification card

A certification card allows a diver to:
a. Rent or buy scuba equipment.
b. Have your tank filled.
c. Participate in dive activities.
d. Take continuing education courses.
e. Dive in areas and under conditions similar to those in which you having training and experience.

Course Outline

The course builds upon the concept of performance-based learning. Students must satisfactorily demonstrate meeting knowledge development and water skills performance requirements in their required sequences.
The course is divided into three segments:
i. Knowledge Development: 2 lessons (4 quizzes + final exam)
ii. Confined Water Training: 2 dives
iii. Open Water Training: 4 dives
Course Materials

PADI Open Water Diver Crew-Pak (includes open water diver manual, recreational dive planning table, log book).

Course Duration

1 Week (approximately 31 hours)

Prerequisites

Certification: None

Minimum age: 15 years old (10 for PADI Junior Open Water Diver)

Course Enrollment

Participants must fill in a Student Record card with personal information and sign the following:
i. PADI Medical statement
ii. Standard SafeDiving Practices Statement of Understanding (or Scuba Statement of Understanding)
iii. Liability Release and Assumption of Risk form.

Continue the adventure with PADI Adventure Diver course, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course orPADI Specialty Diver course.
